Description
Deutsch: Ausschnitt aus dem Pferdemarkt in Lorenzkirch, Gemeinde Zeithain, Sachsen, Deutschland. Blick vom Kirchturm in Lorenzkirch zum Pferdemarkt (einem Teil des Viehmarktes), zur Elbe und zur Stadt Strehla. Der Viehmarkt von Lorenzkirch bestand von 1690 bis 1992, er war Teil des Laurentiusmarktes. Im Jahr 1859, auf dem Höhepunkt des Laurentiusmarktes, standen hier 2900 Pferde zum Verkauf. Vom 13. Jahrhundert bis zur Reformation blieb die Laurentiuskirche von Lorenzkirch eine Wallfahrtskirche, und der Laurentiusmarkt wurde anfangs jeweils am 10. August, dem Laurentiustag genannten Sterbetag des Laurentius von Rom, abgehalten. Der auf der Talsanddüne entstandene Ort Lorenzkirch hatte ab 1791 als Marktflecken mit seinen 1834 neu bestätigten Marktrechten eine große wirtschaftliche Bedeutung wegen des Lorenzmarktes, der Pferdezüchter, Viehzüchter, Händler und Handwerker aus weitem Umkreis anzog. In der Gegenwart wird der Lorenzmarkt als mehrtägiges Volksfest mit einem eintägigen Verkaufsmarkt begangen.
