Description
English: A Pacific oyster (Magallana gigas) about, 12 cm (4.7 in) long, with two smaller oysters and a barnacle (Chthamalus) attached to it. Both the smaller oysters are open, the larger at the top still holds the oyster. The smallest oyster sits between the one and the barnacle, it is empty. In the middle of the top of the shell are dark dots with threads. Those are the holdfasts of an algae (wrack) that was attached to the oyster. The oyster was picked in Brofjorden, close to the shore at Sandvik, Lysekil Municipality, Sweden, about two hours before it was photographed.

As a result, this image underwent digital manipulation which may have included blending, blurring, cloning, and colour and perspective adjustments. As a result of these adjustments, the image content may be slightly different than reality at the points where the images were combined. This manipulation is often required due to lens, perspective, and parallax distortions.
