Description
English: The eagles fountain in the abbey of St. Florian was made in 1757 from Simon Häußler (stonecutter) und Johann Jakob Sattler (sculptor). The eagle is seen as protector of the corpse of St. Florian and it is the heraldic animal of the abbey. Furthermore the snake-killing eagle is a symbol for force and craftiness.
Deutsch: Der Adlerbrunnen im Augustinerchorherrenkloster St. Florian wurde 1757 von Simon Häußler (Steinmetz) und Johann Jakob Sattler (Bildhauer) geschaffen. Der Adler gilt als Beschützer des Leichnams des hl. Florians und ist das Wappentier des Stiftes und ein Symbol für den Ordensgründer Augustinus. Der eine Schlange tötende Adler ist außerdem ein Symbol für Kraft und List.[1]
