The building was reconstructed with stones that were brought to California by William Randolph Hearst. In 1994, the Cistercian monks started the restoration project "Sacred Stones". They brought the limestone blocks from San Francisco to Vina, a small community northwest of Chico, California. In December of 2011, the final stone was set into the ceiling. |
