Description
Deutsch: Detail einer Handschwengelpumpe in der Bruhnsstraße – Auslauf: Der stark verwitterte Sockel dieser Pumpe vom Typ Kleiner Löwe trug ursprünglich eine Plastik, welche dieses Tier darstellte und den oberen Abschluss der Anlage bildete. Der Entwurf nimmt Bezug auf das Leipziger Wappentier und ging ursprünglich als Sieger aus einem Wettbewerb hervor, an dem sich der städtische Kunstverein und der Dürerbund 1908 beteiligt hatten. Der Name des Künstlers ist nicht mehr bekannt. Ein achteckiger Fuß trägt einen sich nach oben verjüngenden, im oberen Teil gerieften, runden Pumpenschaft, auf dem sich ein Aufbau mit vier Türmchen befindet. Ein darauf sitzender Löwe stützt sich auf einen Schild mit dem Stadtwappen. Der hier abgebildete Auslauf ist als Löwenkopf gestaltet und noch vollständig erhalten.
English: Detail of a hand swivel pump in Bruhnsstraße – outlet: The heavily weathered base of this pump of the type Little Lion originally carried a sculpture, which represented this animal and formed the upper end of the system. The design refers to the Leipzig coat of arms and was originally the winner of a competition in which the municipal art association and the Dürerbund took part in 1908. The name of the artist is no longer known. An octagonal foot carries an upward tapered, rounded pump shaft at the top, on which is a superstructure with four turrets. A lion sitting on it rests on a shield with the city coat of arms. The spout shown here is designed as a lion's head and is still fully preserved.
